So, what is "Rebuilding Calistoga"?
Rebuilding Calistoga is a volunteer organization under the sponsorship of Calistoga Affordable Housing that repairs the homes of elderly and disabled citizens who are either low-income and/or physically challenged so they may live in warmth, safety, and independence. After months of planning and preparation, Rebuilding Calistoga of 2010 culminated in a two week April 11-24, 2010 repair effort. The project concluded with a volunteer appreciation celebration on April 25, 2010, celebrating the over 150 volunteers who helped repair the homes of 32 Calistogans.
Rebuilding Calistoga relied on the community for support from volunteers to repair the homes, and seeks funding from businesses, foundations, corporations and individuals. The success of Rebuilding Calistoga is due to the cooperative efforts of City government, private businesses, civic and community organizations, churches and parishes.
Rebuilding Calistoga restores tired neighborhoods and the homeowner’s pride and dignity as well as Community wellbeing. Rebuilding Calistoga is neighbors helping neighbors...people helping people. Check back here in early 2011 for participation forms for Rebuilding Calistoga April 2011.
